Supreme
When a music file is compressed, some frequencies signals are lost, particularly if it is encoded using a low bit rate. The Supreme technology is a Kenwood-original audio compensation technology that compensates for this loss and reproduces music in a more natural form, thereby making it possible to play music recorded using low bit rates (64k to 96k) in an audio-quality equivalent to music recorded using a higher bit rate (equivalent to 128k). Enjoy a natural, rich sound, even with lower compression ratios.

Bluetooth Ready
Add the optional KCA-BT200 to enjoy hands-free operation of the KDC-MP342U, allowing you to keep your hands on the steering wheel allowing you better concentration on your driving. Advanced Bluetooth technology provides wireless connection and operation of Bluetooth-enabled devices, such as mobile phones and even phones that can stream music via A2DP.

HD and Satellite Radio Ready
The KDC-MP342U allows you to enjoy SIRIUS (requires CA-SR20V cable + Sirius Tuner) or XM (requires Audiovox CNP2000UC and CPKEN1) radio in your vehicle. Enjoy a multitude of channels featuring music, news, talk shows, sports, and traffic information with CD quality sound.

High Powered KENWOOD with USB and AUX ports

Review Date: February 18, 2010

This Kenwood USB/CD deck has been excellent. The install was a breeze since we already had a Kenwood CD player installed in the car...pretty much slide out the old, slide in the new deck and reconnect the wires.

The easiest way to play music is to connect a USB SD card reader or USB flash drive and then play the songs from there. You can load up different SD cards or do what I did...just color code a couple of 4GB USB drives with different music types. If you press and hold the eject button, you get "REMOVE" on the panel...that way when you connect the device again later it starts from where you left off listening.

I didn't have any luck connecting an iPod with the USB port, but I'm sure I can connect it to the AUX 3.5" input.

The sound is great...certainly not audiophile quality, but no MP3's are that.

I had many problems with this unit. First of all, iPod mode (controlling the music through the iPod itself instead of using the unit) is not available for the first generation nano or the touch - it doesn't say this anywhere except in the user manual, which you can only see after you've already dropped the cash. The only reason I chose this model was for the iPod compatability. Controlling the iPod through the player was extremely difficult - if you pressed one button when you still had "search" mode on, the player would switch to radio, or sometimes even turn off. After a week or two of having the unit, buttons became even more unpredictable, doing completely random things. It would distract me while I was driving because I wasn't able to do even the simplest things, like skipping to the next track, so I would just let it go, playing what I didn't want to hear or not playing anything at all so I didn't get into an accident messing with it. The display would sometimes suddenly scramble and not be able to do anything - I would have to turn the player off and restart it. Some days it just wouldn't turn on in the cold and I'd have to wait until my drive home from work, when the car was warmed up, to use it. Then one day the entire unit shut down on it's own and I was never able to start it again. I feel it's reasonable to spend money on a unit and expect to hear music on it, which this unit just didn't let me do. Let's hope that it was just a single faulty unit that I was lucky enough to get. I returned it and went for a Sony instead, which has left me much happier!
Glitchy when connected to my Ipod

I chose this model because of it can interface with my ipod. However after several days, I began to get various errors either when I did a search or plugged the ipod in. I tried the reset button, which would alleviate some of the problems, but they persisted. I finally took the unit back thinking it was a lemon and exchanged it for the same model. Well... it worked fine for a few days and now I'm back to the same old problems I was having before. I have even tried other ipods, thinking that it may be my ipod that was causing the problem. No dice. I'm going to bring it back yet again and exchange it for a different brand.

KDC-MP342U WMA/MP3CD Radio not user freindly, not easy to use. Why all the bells and things? I just wanted a User freindly radio, way to many features, the adverage person will not ever use them. Why they don't offer a Simple AM/FM Stereo Radio? If you except a easy radiKenwood KDC-MP342U WMA/MP3 CD Receiver with Satellite/HD Radio/Bluetooth Ready Front Panel USB/AUX Inputo, do Not Buy This One.
